Structure is how I care.
I'm Sven. I studied information management and have always been drawn to the seam between design and technology — the place where a good idea either becomes a working product or quietly falls apart. I started out as a freelance developer for agencies, moved into e-commerce and online marketing, and grew into project management and requirements engineering because someone had to hold the whole picture together. I believe most digital problems are communication problems in disguise.
It started with pixels.
I studied Information Management and Corporate Communications in Neu-Ulm and spent my first years building shops and campaigns for industrial companies — Wanzl, MUNK. I learned that the prettiest interface fails if nobody agreed on what it should do.
Then it became about people.
Requirements engineering was the missing piece: a discipline for listening carefully, writing precisely and making trade-offs visible before they get expensive. The IREB and Scrum certifications came later — the habit of asking "for whom, and why?" came first.
And I kept teaching.
For twelve years I taught media design at the University of Applied Sciences Neu-Ulm. Explaining something to twenty students every week is the best training for explaining it to one stakeholder on a Friday afternoon.
How I work
4 principlesClarity before speed.
A week spent on requirements saves a month of rework. I'd rather start slowly and finish on time.
Say it plainly.
No jargon in status reports, no surprises in reviews. If a sentence needs a footnote, the sentence is wrong.
Design is a team sport.
The best ideas came from developers, support staff and users — my job is to build the room where they get heard.
Ship, then listen.
A release is the start of the conversation, not the end. Data and feedback beat opinions, including mine.
Off duty
Away from the screen, I’m usually outdoors with my two Australian Shepherds, who don’t take “later” for an answer. Some weekends I’m out riding my road, gravel, or mountain bike; others, I’m doing the woodwork for my Mercedes Sprinter camper conversion. I like keeping busy, learning as I go, and taking on new challenges.
